A Little About Ty & Hannah’s Outdoor Fall Wedding
For Tyler Wooton and Hannah Buckingham’s big day, they chose beautiful Georgetown, TN. Howe Farms’ breathtaking views were at peak beauty for their September nuptials. The bride wore an elegant white satin gown, as her maids were in burgundy floor-length dresses. The bride carried a show-stopping cascading bouquet, made by Lang Floral Designs, which included more than a dozen different types of blooms and greenery for that rich textural look she needed to offset the simplicity of her gown.
This outdoor ceremony took place under the venue’s arbor, allowing the farm-land scenery to create a stunning natural backdrop. The couple celebrated at their reception in the Apple Barn, which featured a delicious semi-naked cake by Tarte Cakes, dinner and dancing. Then after the sun set, guests cut loose on the patio dance floor under a covering of magical bistro lights and stars.

What Makes A Perfect Modern Fall Wedding?
So what made the look of this fall wedding so flawless? When planning a wedding, it’s SO easy to get overwhelmed by thousands of ideas and styles you LOVE. This Pinterest world of wedding planning is so great for inspiration, but it also offers an almost ENDLESS amount of ideas for your wedding, which will potentially plague an indecisive bride. I remember being in your shoes; loving SO MANY ideas so much, that it felt impossible to choose.
Simplicity is key!
The thing that made Hannah’s design decisions for her wedding come together so beautifully is SIMPLICITY. Check her dress out. It’s stunning…but also very simply. So when she paired that with such a textured and visual bouquet, the look is perfect! The bridesmaid’s dresses do the same. Choosing the same color and style for all 8 bridesmaids must have been a hard decision. I mean, there are SO many great dresses out there. It can be so tempting to choose two or three, right? However, when you pair something simple with something that has a lot of visual interest, the look turns out modern and effortless. This is what Hannah achieved at her fall wedding.

The bride chose these modern lanterns with the clean lines, paired them with simple frosted glass votives, and we brought in the texture and visual interest using loose eucalyptus greenery. The same centerpiece was used at every guest table. As much as I love doing two different centerpieces across a wedding reception, there was again that effortless feel when the guests entered into the Apple Barn for the reception and scanned the room to see these clean lines and fresh greenery at every table.

How To Make This Look For Your Modern Fall Wedding
- VENUE
Find a great local venue with indoor/outdoor options in case of rain. If a barn isn’t your thing, that’s okay. There are plenty of other indoor/outdoor wedding venues (think vineyards, plantations, etc), to choose from that offer great views, modern amenities, and the perfect setting for your modern fall wedding. If you’re in or near Tennessee, definitely check out Hannah and Ty’s Venue, Howe Farms, in Georgetown Tennessee, near Chattanooga. - BRIDAL GOWN
Hannah’s simply and modern gown was designed by Mikaella Bridal. - BRIDESMAIDS
Exact dress styles have changed a bit since Hannah’s bridesmaid’s ordered their dresses. However, you can recreate the look with this similar David’s Bridal dress in Merlot. - FLOWERS
For this type of bouquet, I would highly recommend a professional florist. This one features Protea, Ranunculus, Moonstone Roses, Red Hanging Amaranthus, and a mixture of other filler and eucalyptus greenery. If you’re in the Chattanooga area, definitely check us out! - CENTERPIECES
– Lanterns – We love these Etsy for a similar modern look.
– Frosted Votive Tealight Candle Holders
– Battery-Powered* Pillar Candle for Lantern
– Battery-Powered* Tealights
– Battery-Powered* LED Lights (optional…intertwined within the greenery)
*Most indoor venues won’t allow real flame candles. I would recommend checking your venue’s policies.
We definitely realize that planning a wedding is more complex than these few items. However, I hope this gives you a solid start in seeing how easy it is to make some simple design decisions for your beautiful burgundy fall wedding.
