Oh my goodness! What can I say about Robyn and Brandon’s dusty blue wedding we did last Summer! I adore all this color Robyn chose for their big day! This might be my favorite set of bridal party flowers we’ve ever done!

Dusty Blue Wedding Party
These bouquets and boutonnières were an absolute joy to create! In our floral design meeting, Robyn and I discussed the color pallet and decided what would go best with the dusty blue dresses. We knew we wanted to use touches of Delphinium which are those longer light blue flowers. However, even though Robyn loved the idea of COLOR, I knew we would still want to keep it tasteful and resist the urge to just throw all the bright colors into her bouquets. So we decided that the warmer tones of peach, yellow and blush would contrast against the blues while still keeping things sophisticated and wedding appropriate.
Don’t be afraid of COLOR!
You see, for several years now, most brides have been choosing ALL NEUTRALS for their weddings, terrified to go with any color. This is because the tends before that included much more brightly colored weddings. So bright, actually, that some leaned a little too far into “tacky”. So, as an attempt to bring weddings back into that elevated style they should be, brides and florists just shut down all the color, and basically switched to all white, beige, blush, and muted greenery.
Don’t get me wrong, I would much rather a wedding look sophisticated and monochromatic, than tacky and circus-like. However, I love that wedding trends are finally showing brides that there is a way to curate a wedding with a well-thought-out color pallet that leaves your guests saying “I’ve never seen a wedding quite like that”.
Robyn’s primary color choice was this gorgeous dusty blue, perfect for a summer wedding! However, it would have been so easy for her to say “well, I kind of just wanna do all white flowers and eucalyptus to play it safe”. But Robyn had seen a more “wildflower and colorful” bouquet on my Instagram page that she fell in love with much more than neutrals.
I’m so glad she trusted me to pull all those colors together as a designers. We ordered a ton of these flowers from our friends at Creekside, a local flower farm who I love using for their wide variety and super fresh product! Robyn even let me do each boutonnière a little different, which I thought was a perfect fit for the wild style.
The Details
I thought all the details came together for this wedding flawlessly! Robyn hired Wildflower as her wedding planners, and they are just my favorite in the business to work with! They have flawless taste to bring a look like this together, and they are just the best at organization and communication (my kind of wedding pros!).
The blues in Robyn and Brandon’s invitations and the blue velvet shoes Robyn wore just make my heart so happy! I always love doing a super-fresh greenery wreath on the doors of Patten Chapel. And these two wreaths turned out extra full! So, I was so excited to see that the photographer used those doors as a backdrop to so many great photos!
The reception featured tons of that dreamy blue color as well! Linens and blue-tinted goblets were paired with our gold charger rentals and warm-toned wildflower bud vases. We also did a variety of beige and neutral taper candles in our gold candlestick rentals.
I can’t forget to mention the beautiful wedding cake, and that delicious cinnamon bun groom’s cake! It was a morning wedding and a brunch reception, which I’ve always thought was a fabulous idea! I’m not sure why I didn’t think to do that for my wedding. I just LOVE everything about this plan (accept maybe having to wake up so early)!
Robyn and Brandon’s wedding may go down as one of my all-time favorites. And we’re looking forward to the emergence of more curated color pallets like these at our upcoming weddings!
