For your promise ring, you might not feel the need to go as traditional as you may for an engagement ring. You can also lean into more current trends considering the fact that you’ll likely get an upgrade down the road. So, we’ve collected a list of unique and affordable promise rings. These beauties are sure to catch people’s attention and make your ring one of the most memorable anyone has ever seen.
Unique Promise Rings: 5 Stone Options & 20 Ring Designs!

Salt and Pepper Diamond Promise Rings
My favorite option in this article is the Salt and Pepper diamond. It’s the one I would choose if not going with a traditional diamond or moissanite ring. I love how neutral yet attention grabbing it is! And there’s just something that draws my eye to that speckled, charcoal-like, deep grey stone. It’s modern, yet vintage-looking, and the more I stare at it, the more I think I might end up buying one for myself before the year’s up.
I recently got a new Pear-shaped Moissanite Ring, and I’m currently obsessed with the pear-shaped trend! Our first Salt and Pepper Diamond option is pear-shaped as well, and probably my favorite.

Moss Agate Promise Rings
This Moss Agate stone was what first inspired me to do an entire blog article about unique, non-traditional ring options. First, let me say that I realize a green stone might not be for everyone. But there’s just something about those agate veiny details that make me not be able to take my eyes off this stone.
If you feel the same way, give it a try. You can choose a shop that allows for returns if you don’t like it. Having this unique ring would surely get you lots of questions and compliments!

Morganite Promise Rings
I adore these unique Morganite Promise rings for their vintage flair and dainty quality. A morganite stone has a warm pink hue, so if “on Wednesdays we wear pink” is your favorite movie quote, a morganite ring might be for you.

Black Onyx Promise Rings
I’m sure we can all imagine the type of girl this Black Onyx stone would be perfect for. In my mind, she’s edgy, a little dark, and not afraid to “think outside the box” when it comes to her style. A unique black onyx promise ring is perfectly paired with diamond or moissanite side stones in these hand-crafted rings. Plus, they’re super affordable!

Moissanite Promise Rings
If you’re looking for a promise ring, then chances are you’ve seen Moissanite options all over the place as an alternative to diamond. Here’s a great article ALL ABOUT MOISSANITE, and what its benefits are.
Here are some of our favorite unique ring designs featuring a gorgeous moissainte. Two of the four options below are from Forever Moissanite, and you can use THIS LINK to get $50 off when you join their mailing list, and THIS LINK to get free FedEx Priority Shipping!
I recently got a gold moissanite ring to wear as a fun alternative to my original silver ring, especially when I’m wearing other gold jewelry. You can read more about how I chose that ring HERE; it’s a 1.25 Carat Pear-Shaped Moissanite Ring from Forever Moissanite, and I LOVE it.

Choosing a Unique Promise Ring with a Non-Traditional Stone
One thing I will recommend when considering any of these rings is that you do your research on the stone type, Etsy shop or online store, and their policies. Reviews are a great place to start. Also, some stones are harder and more durable than others. Some will also stand the test of time better. Look into what qualities your favorite ring has, and make sure you’re comfortable with its differences from a traditional diamond.
If you’re choosing a stone you’ve never seen in person before, I would highly recommend you make sure there’s a return policy, just in case it isn’t what you expected. I hope you find a unique promise ring you love and is truly “you”.
