The Details: A Rustic Summer Wedding

As Brooke and Tyler planned their May wedding at The Barn at Faith Farms, they studied Pinterest for all the best rustic wedding ideas for summer. They chose a simple but modern style and color pallet to coordinate with their barn venue and casual personalities.

This was our first time working at this gorgeous venue in Athens, Tennessee, and we truly loved it there! Every square inch of the property seemed very thought out and intentional.  There were so many perfect touches in the landscaping and layout, and although there was PLENTY of room for guests to spread out and park, everything was in close and convenient proximity.

For example, the bridal suite (which was a separate building with multiple rooms including a kitchen) was so close to the main barn event space and patio. This gave the bridal party a very short walk to all the venue spaces and natural photo spots.  The patio that leads straight out of the main barn doors makes for a perfect ceremony space, rain or shine.  So, I love that it is an outdoor space, but also covered to offer your guests some much-needed shade on those hot summer afternoons.

The Ceremony: Rustic Summer Wedding Ideas

I always love to hear how a bride came up with her style choices for her wedding.  I remember when we first met, Brooke shared with me her rustic summer wedding ideas. She explained that her and Tyler were a very laid-back couple, and that they wanted their friends and family to be comfortable and relaxed at their big day. As part of that casual vibe, they chose lots of mixed greenery for the ceremony.  I loved the all-greenery bridesmaids bouquets to coordinate with their floor length blush dresses.  The maid-of-honor had a unique floral dress, which I think added a little personality to the bridal party.

For her bouquet, Brooke and I decided on some classic blooms like quicksand roses and blush lisianthus, to be paired with some more rustic stems like pampas grass, copper beech, blackberry scabiosa, and white statice. We also used more greenery on the ends of the pews and the venue’s stone mantle.

The Reception: Casual & Relaxed Barn Celebration

As part of the relaxed vibe, Brooke and Tyler decided on a salad bar and pizza for their reception.  The pizza was from Papa Johns, which was easy on their budget and stress level.  But I loved that they styled the venue’s beautiful wooden buffet table with pizza trays and butcher paper. And then we came in with some loose eucalyptus greenery, to elevate the look for this casual rustic wedding reception.  Also, the tables featured a perfect mix of rustic and eclectic, because Brooke chose our rental set of vintage bud vases. We then used a beautiful mixture of all the bloom and greenery types from her bouquet for the perfect rustic summer wedding centerpieces.
